Music is Comforting - Mesabi Symphony Orchestra

  • Moose Lake Community School 4812 County Road 10 Moose Lake, MN, 55767 United States (map)

For its season finale concerts, Mesabi Symphony Orchestra will collaborate with the Range of Voices chorus for special performances of Johannes Brahms’ A German Requiem. Brahms’ monumental work is not the heaven-storming, dramatic requiem in the vein of Giuseppe Verdi, nor is it the calm, sedate requiem such as Gabriel Fauré’s. Brahms wrote his German Requiem to comfort those who are grieving. Eschewing the traditional Latin texts, each movement features text and music that seek to soothe and allay the grief of loss in many different emotional ways.

Performances will take place on Saturday, April 6 at the Rock Ridge High School Performing Arts Center in Virginia, and on Sunday, April 7 at the Moose Lake Community School.

Mesabi Symphony Orchestra received an Art Project Grant to help fund this project.
