Spend time at the historic Lincoln Park Building exploring the art of photography with local artist and educator, Susanna Gaunt. Learn the ins and outs of your camera, creatively compose images, and develop a photographic vision that will enhance your work.

Students have access to a photo studio equipped with backdrops and lighting at the Lincoln Park Building. In addition to the photography studio, photo club will take walking field trips throughout the Lincoln Park neighborhood, so participants will be required to submit a signed permission/emergency contact form prior to their first photo club session. Beyond learning about cameras and composing imagery, students will have the opportunity to experiment with photographic chemistry, build a zine, receive 3-5 prints of the photographs they take each month, and work towards an exhibition of their photography in late the fall of 2023.

Artists are encouraged to bring their own equipment (digital cameras, film cameras, phones, etc), but the DAI will have a limited number of cameras on hand. Contact Emma at espooner@duluthartinstitute.org with questions about equipment.

Partial and full scholarships are available on a first come first serve basis. Please email Emma at espooner@duluthartinstitute.org if you're interested in registering with a scholarship!

*The April session of Youth Photo Club will take place on April 4, 2023 due to the Duluth Public School District spring break

This activity is made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
