Become a Grant Reviewer
Would you like to be more involved in the Arrowhead arts community?
Would you like to improve your grant writing and evaluation skills?
Do you feel you represent a voice that has been missing?
The Arrowhead Regional Arts Council is seeking someone just like you.
We’re looking for grant reviewers that represent the broad spectrum of arts and creative voices in the region.
ARAC provides grants for development of artists, arts organizations, and arts services throughout the region. With your help, we can ensure that our grant review process is representative of our region’s racial, ethnic, gender, and disability identities; extensive geography; and distinct perspectives.
ARAC chooses grant reviewers based on their arts practice, knowledge, experience, and commitment to fairness. We are looking for individuals with knowledge of the arts, arts supporters/collectors, or individuals working in and with knowledge of the regional arts community.
ARAC Reviewers must:
Live in the Arrowhead region (Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis Counties)
Have access to the internet, a computer, and have the ability to interact within the web environment
Be willing and able to provide written and oral comments based on their knowledge, not their personal bias
Listen attentively to the other reviewers and engage in discussion
Maintain confidentiality and acknowledge conflicts of interest
Time Commitment and Compensation
Time commitments vary, depending on the grant program. Expect to spend 5-10 hours preparing for the panel meeting, which usually lasts 2-3 hours
Reviewers have access to the grants at least two weeks in advance of the meeting to prepare
Reviewers will receive a $50 stipend per panel session. All reviews are done via the internet; no need to travel to Duluth
